Membership

To join PVMCD, a municpality would need to produce a petition from local residents, municipal administration, or the Town Counsel. The petition would then need to be placed on the town warrant or voted via another legally established municipal mechanism.

Funding Structure

Funding for PVMCD is generally appropriated through municipal budgets, either managed by local Boards of Health or drawn from free cash or other surplus municipal funds. Each member municipality has the flexibility to decide on the most suitable funding source. It is important for each member community to allocate sufficient funds during the annual budget process to cover the base membership fee.

Base Fee

The purpose of the base fee is to cover overhead costs associated with core operational expenses and arbovirus surveillance services. This fee is essential to ensuring the District’s sustainability while providing critical arbovirus surveillance and outreach.

For FY26, the base fee is $5,250 for member municipalities.
